1939 Experimental Jumps (13MB)
The experimental jumps where made at various locations in the Methow Valley. 58 jumps were made in October and November of 1939. The parachutes used were provided by the Eagle Parachute Company contracted by the Forest Service. The Aircraft was the Stinson Reliant (Gull Wing) SR-10 the first plane owned by the Forest Service.

The film was taken at different locations in the Methow Valley and provides a brief history of the beginning of the Smokejumper program. Mr. Littlell took this movie while he was a jumper at the Chelan National Forest Aerial Project (North Cascades Smokejumper Base) in 1947 -1948.
